Now the big question is: Do we really need another Trade Show? There now seem to be more Trade Shows than ever and the pressure is on for manufacturers to bring new products out more and more often, after all, we don’t want to see the same thing again and again.

But it seems that Qubique has got one element perfectly right…it appears to be one big Party!! Opening Party, Closing Party, Dezeen Party….and it’s only on for 4 days. Ok, there are parties at every trade show but it’s generally all a bit spread out…too many parties and with it the decision on where to go, how many does one try to squeeze in per night and do you end up spending most part of the evening travelling from one to the next instead of what you are suppose to do: partying??

After all, the furniture is only really an excuse to get together, the partying is the real reason we go to the shows.

I for one am gutted I’m not going this year. Berlin is an amazing city, the venue is incredible….let’s hope QUBIQUE delivers what it promises and is here to stay (so I can definitely go next year!!).

And queen of this current craze seems to be Kirstie Allsopp and her ‘Handmade’ programs on Channel 4. Don’t get me wrong, I applaud her for promoting traditional crafts and all things handmade ….BUT, when at the same time she has the most ghastly collection of product ‘designed’ for M&S (of which I presume none are handmade), I really want to doubt her sincerity!!! And if you’ve seen her ‘cry’ after winning the single cake competition in last night’s program…I rest my case!!!

We are sooo excited to be part of the Liverpool Design Show which is taking part this weekend (07 – 09 October). And to make it even better, the show is taking place in the magnificent St George’s Hall, apparently one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world.

So if you are out and about this weekend, make sure to come by and say hello…and we’ll try not to attempt to do a Scouse accent….PROMISED!
