Enamel

by Hyperkit

Enamel is a series of metal plaques in vitreous enamel featuring different letters and numbers.

Enamel can be used as a door or house number, a name on a child’s bedroom door, initials on a mantle piece, a memento to mark a special date, a label for a storage box, an oversized keyring….the list is endless.

Made in United Kingdom

7 × 11.5cm

In order to produce the plaques, sheet metal is screen-printed with the letter or number using an ink that has been combined with glass particles. These glass particles are then fused to the metal by firing the plaques at temperatures in excess of 800 degrees Celsius. This produces an object that has a hardwearing surface and is both temperature and chemical resistant. Every plaque is unique and any imperfections that may result from their production using this traditional manufacturing technique only add to their character.
